The design of this 3,800 sf two-story family home evolved from a desire to maximize views of the Deschutes River from most spaces, and to the conservation of the natural features of the site: the River, the rock bluff along it, and all trees on the building site. A commitment to using solar PV power early in the project also helped determine the roof form and location.
Features of this 4-bedroom home include an open-plan Kitchen/Dining/Lounge area that opens to a multi-level patio with covered outdoor Kitchen and Dining area that overlooks the Deschutes River. The indoor-outdoor connection is facilitated by a large folding glass door and an oversized awning window. A multi-purpose family game room also connects to the patio and built-in spa areas. Bedrooms include a main floor guest suite with river-view patio; master suite with den and balcony overlooking the river; and 2 additional en-suite bedrooms. Materials for the exterior of the home include natural wood siding, board-formed concrete, glass, and standing seam metal roofs.
