This 4,200 sf high-performance home in Silverthorne, Colorado, uses 50% less energy to heat than neighboring homes. The timber-frame structure is wrapped in highly-insulating structural-insulated-panels (SIP's) and the basement is constructed from Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF's), creating an air-tight shell.
Custom designed for an active couple retiring from careers on the East coast, the home incorporates a common New England element - the timber-frame. It was a natural fit with the mountain-style home they desired. The douglas-fir timber frame is complemented by the fir trim and high-performance fir windows. |
